What Happenned? Posted by Codefox (2008/5/18)
As anyone who tried to access the site is aware, the whole site went down Friday at some point. I really don't know when. I discovered it myself Friday morning. Unfortunately I was at work and was going out of town for the weekend which is why it took a few days for me to fix it. And clearly, as you can see, its functioning again but not exactly the way it was before. The reason is...I still have no idea what happenned. I may never figure that out. Fortunately we lost nothing so other than being inconvienced for a few days, this was really no big deal.

What I am pretty sure of is that this was not a hack. I don't believe there was anything malicious here. If it was a hack, they didn't touch our data at all which would be very strange. It actually concerns me a bit more that this probably isn't a hack since it speaks poorly of the underlying code for the site. Not that that would surprise any of us I think ;)

So, I will start a thread with some discussion about this but again, my appologies for the down time and welcome back! :)

Event News : MegaCon 2008
Posted by Codefox on 2008/3/10 21:50:48 (87 reads)

MegaCon was great (though I guess I’m the only one who went). I only went on Saturday since I was on a cruise and really needed to get back home for at least a day before work. Overall, the Con seemed like it was doing well! Gaming was much more organized than the past couple years. I had fun in an SR game. The con floor was full of great venders as always.

Next year I plan to make it more of a trip again. My intention is to get as many people together as I can to really get a lot of RPGs run & played next year. The board gaming was pretty much not there at all this year but with some community support, it definitely could be.

Event News : Final Roll
Posted by Codefox on 2008/3/7 0:17:01 (83 reads)

Well, as we all know by now, Gary Gygax passed away at 69 years old. He's left behind a wife, 6 children and a legacy of gaming that we all enjoy. His imagination created an entire industry for us to play in. His creation inspired the imaginations of countless people the world over for the past 3 decades. We can all remember our favorite campaigns and know that no matter what game we chose to play, it all started with Gygax.

Monte Cooke, an excellent game designer himself, has written a very nice tribute to Gygax.

I may try and run a tribute game myself if I can find one of his classic Greyhawk modules. I'll let everyone know to see what sort of interest there is.

I think I fixed the autologin problems. Delete your cookies, restart, and do your thing, and let me know if it's fixed (or not) for you.

Event News : * IMPORTANT - LOG IN ISSUES *
Posted by Codefox on 2008/2/4 11:29:48 (105 reads)

We attempted to make a fix for the auto-login difficulties and I believe it may potentially be preventing people from logging in now. This probably has something to do with cookies being changed. If you can't log in, please do the following:

Delete your cookies
Close your browser completely (this is important)
Return to the site

You should be able to login. If you can't, please let me know.
